چکیده

T HREE switchback metabolism studies were conducted to study the effects of replacing corn with 5, 10 and 15% cane molasses. Five percent molasses had no significant effect on any of the parameters studied. At 10 and 15% molasses added at the expense of corn in the basal ration, nitrogen retention and apparent digestibility of dry matter and energy were all significantly improved (P< .05) . The total quantity and percent butyric acid in the rumen was significantly increased when the 15% molasses ration was fed. Other parameters were unchanged when either 10 or 15% molasses was added to the basal ration. I t is suggested that perhaps cane molasses need not be assigned an energy value lower than corn when fed in limited quantities and in the type of ration used in this study.

Use of Response Surface Methodology Analysis for Xanthan Biopolymer Production by Xanthomonas campestris: Focus on Agitation Rate, Carbon Source, and Temperature

The current study is an attempt to contribute for efficient and cost-effective substrates for xanthan gum production. In this context, the sugar cane molasses wastes can be used as a cheap substrate for xanthan gum production. Xanthan biopolymer production by a novel Xanthomonas campestris strain IBRC-M 10644 was optimized with statistical approaches. Based on the results ...

The effect of sugar cane molasses on the immune and male reproductive systems using in vitro and in vivo methods

Objective(s): Sugar cane molasses is a commonly used ingredient in several food products. Contrasting reports suggest that molasses may have potential adverse or beneficial effects on human health. However, little evidence exists that examines the effects of molasses on the different physiological systems. This study investigated the effects of sugar cane molasses on various physiological syste...

Refnement of Cane Molasses with Membrane Technology for Clarifcation and Color Removal

Recovery of sugars from cane molasses (i.e. the by-product of sugar industries) is of great interest to industry and academia. The prerequisite for refning cane molasses is removal of pigments and suspended solids present in the molasses. In this work, the utilization of membrane separation for clarifcation and decoloration of cane molasses has been examined. Three oper...

Effect of Storage Temperature and Light on the Freeze-Dried Amino Acids from Sugar Beet and Sugar Cane Molasses

Molasses is a significant by-product of sugar beet or sugar cane refining industry. In this work, the effects of storage temperature and packaging on the contents of free amino acids (AAs) in sugar beet and sugar cane molasses after freeze drying were inquired. The effect of different variables such as, temperature (4 and 25˚C) and light (Metallized polypropylene container and Normal polypropyl...
